Foundation and Generative Models for Biomolecules

Location: Berlin, Germany; Palo Alto, California; or Zurich, Switzerland. Candidates are expected to primarily work from an office location and collaborate across US and European time zones, with meetings from 8am PT to 7pm CET.

Salary: $200K–$275K plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, train, and iteratively improve state-of-the-art models for biomolecule design.
• Build and refine generative approaches and foundation models using diverse biological datasets.
• Analyze, visualize, and communicate model and data results to support research progress.
• Create, deploy, and improve tools for reliable machine learning experimentation and production.
• Collaborate with computational and experimental biologists to collect training and evaluation data.
• Provide mentorship and technical direction to other team members as appropriate.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing machine learning models.
• Demonstrated experience implementing, training, and improving advanced ML models.
• Strong programming skills in the Python ecosystem and experience with PyTorch or a similar deep learning framework.
• Availability to collaborate with team members across the US and Europe during the required meeting window.
• Readiness to work primarily from one of the listed office locations and travel several times a year for retreats and business events.
• PhD in AI/ML, computer science, computational biology, physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern generative models, large-scale model training, foundation models, model parallelism, and multi-node training.
• Strong machine learning experimentation, data processing, model evaluation, and compute cluster orchestration skills.
• Experience with genomic and protein sequence data, sequencing, and functional assays.
• Knowledge of biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and drug development.
