Account Specialist I (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; in-person three days per week

Salary: $50,000–$75,000 per year, plus a discretionary performance bonus of 5–10% of base salary.

What you will do

• Process individual, joint, IRA, and basic entity account applications, verifying documentation and information accuracy.
• Handle straightforward account maintenance requests and prepare applications for review by account approvers.
• Perform customer due diligence, support AML monitoring and reporting, and escalate suspicious activity or documentation irregularities.
• Assist customers through account opening, documentation issues, application holds, and processing questions via chat, email, and phone.
• Document customer interactions in Salesforce and collaborate with teammates on time-sensitive account issues.
• Contribute to process improvements, training, and development toward Account Specialist II responsibilities.

Requirements

• FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses.
• Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.
• Experience or strong interest in the financial industry; prior customer service experience is preferred.
• Interest in AML/KYC compliance, suitability standards, and brokerage account operations.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, multitasking, and customer-support skills.
• Ability to work independently, use technology proficiently, and escalate complex issues appropriately.

Nice to have

• Customer service experience in financial services or a brokerage environment.
• Knowledge of individual, joint, IRA, entity, trust, or margin account structures.
