TL;DR
Senior Responsible Engineer (Aerospace): Owning the technical integrity of precision motion control hardware from design release through certification and fielding with an accent on engineering authority, configuration control, and aerospace qualification. Focus on approving drawings and deviations, leading engineering change boards, and defending compliance with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 requirements.

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite. Open to relocating candidates. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 base salary plus equity.

What you will do

  • Serve as the accountable Responsible Engineer and final engineering signatory for assigned products and assemblies.
  • Own hardware technical baselines, approve design changes, and maintain configuration integrity across the product lifecycle.
  • Review and approve drawings, bills of materials, specifications, test plans, and certification documentation.
  • Evaluate non-conformances, deviations, and waivers, including acceptance or conditional approval of non-compliant hardware.
  • Oversee qualification and acceptance testing against DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 requirements.
  • Lead engineering change boards and provide technical direction to design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability industrial hardware.
  • Experience serving as a technical authority or lead engineer.
  • Expertise in electromechanical product design, including electromagnetic actuators, precision mechanisms, and avionics enclosures.
  • Mastery of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and complex 2D engineering drawings and assembly specifications.
  • Deep experience with aerospace or defense qualification, certification processes, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and regulatory or customer technical representatives.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
