Senior/Staff Software Test Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: London, UK; hybrid with at least 4 days per week in the Kings Cross office and one flexible work-from-home day

Salary: £72.8K–£131K plus equity

What you will do

• Architect scalable, high-fidelity testing infrastructure for continuous validation across embedded, real-time, application, ML inference, GUI, DevOps, and cloud data-pipeline software.
• Define the end-to-end verification and validation strategy and map software verification evidence to system-level safety risks.
• Build compliance-as-code workflows that integrate risk controls into CI/CD and automate regulatory evidence generation.
• Drive TDD, static analysis, automated quality gates, and a quality-first engineering culture through mentoring and training.
• Develop AI-augmented testing, including predictive anomaly detection and AI-driven test generation.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, and Software Engineering to scale quality and development practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software test engineering experience architecting strategies for complex regulated systems.
• Deep knowledge of IEC 62304 and ISO 14971, with experience designing compliance-as-code workflows.
• Advanced Python and C/C++ skills and experience building test infrastructure for embedded hardware and cloud-side data pipelines.
• Experience mentoring engineers and applying TDD, CI/CD, static analysis, and automated quality gates.
• Experience with cybersecurity requirements, including IEC 81001-5-1 or FDA cybersecurity guidance, and rigorous regulatory documentation.
• Experience testing real-time Linux or RTOS-based products.

Nice to have

• Background in MLOps, model-drift validation, dataset governance, and automated performance evaluation.
• Experience with CMake, Bazel, Terraform, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with FDA Q-Sub or MHRA pre-submission processes.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing.
