TL;DR
Manufacturing Process Development Engineer (Optics/Photonics): Designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for advanced optical and photonic products with an accent on yield, throughput, quality, and robust process windows. Focus on SPC and DOE experimentation, root cause analysis, process qualification, and transitioning new products from R&D and NPI into high-volume production.
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina, United States
Company
develops and manufactures advanced optical and photonic products.
What you will do
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes, equipment, and methodologies from concept through production.
- Optimize processes to improve yield, throughput, cost, and quality using statistical process control and design of experiments.
- Design experiments to characterize process parameters, identify critical factors, and establish robust process windows.
- Collaborate with R&D, product design, and NPI teams on manufacturability and production transitions.
- Perform root cause analysis for process deviations, yield loss, and quality issues, then implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Qualify materials, equipment, and suppliers while providing technical support and training to operators and technicians.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 3β5 years of manufacturing process development experience in a high-tech industry.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, process control, and statistical analysis, including SPC and DOE.
- Experience with optical assembly, fiber handling, laser welding, thin-film deposition, or semiconductor fabrication is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, or R, and CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems, manage multiple projects, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Culture & Benefits
- Full-time employment in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Work focused on efficiency, yield, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies are used to drive process improvements.
