Photonics Test Development Engineer

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 base plus equity

hirify.global is hiring for a well-funded deep-tech startup developing an integrated-photonics platform for advanced computing applications.

What you will do

• Build and own automated fiber-coupled test stations for photonic integrated circuit characterization.
• Develop repeatable fiber-to-chip alignment methods and automate positioning stages and laboratory instruments.
• Write Python software for test control, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Characterize passive and active integrated photonic devices at die, wafer, or packaged-device level.
• Measure loss, coupling efficiency, bandwidth, and polarization response while improving calibration, repeatability, and throughput.
• Diagnose optical, electrical, and alignment-related issues and feed test results back into device design and fabrication.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building or substantially developing photonic integrated circuit test stations.
• Experience with fiber-to-chip coupling and optical alignment.
• Experience automating motion stages and laboratory instruments.
• Python programming experience for test control, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Experience with optical and electrical measurements and diagnosing measurement stability and repeatability issues.
• Ability to take ownership of test infrastructure rather than only operate established equipment.
