Software Engineer – Identity & Access Management (IAM)

Location: USA, Ohio, Columbus; priority given to candidates residing in the Columbus metropolitan area

Salary: $100,100–$166,900 annually

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain authentication and authorization solutions using OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SAML.
• Integrate web applications and APIs with Okta, Auth0, Ping, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Implement SSO, MFA, federated authentication, session management, secure token handling, and access policy enforcement.
• Develop identity services including login gateways, authorization middleware, and claims transformation.
• Apply least privilege, secure defaults, defense in depth, secure secret handling, threat modeling, and NIST-based identity principles.
• Build, test, document, and support production identity systems in a Kanban delivery environment.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and shipping production software as an individual contributor.
• 4+ years of deep experience with Okta and/or Auth0, including policies, applications, federation, and claims.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing or integrating authentication and authorization with OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and/or SAML.
• Strong understanding of secure engineering practices and common identity threats.
• Professional experience with at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript, Ruby, Python, or C#.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and security stakeholders and communicate technical decisions clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with SMART on FHIR, SCIM, directory integrations, or identity lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with RBAC/ABAC, claims-based authorization, or policy engines.
• Experience in regulated environments, audit support, or improving the reliability of critical authentication systems.
