Senior / Staff AI Research Scientist, Foundation Models (AI)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; 5 days per week in the office

Salary: $200,000–$360,000 USD per year, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Design and deploy vision-language and vision-language-action models for contextual understanding and generalized robot action policies.
• Develop and train world models for action-conditioned prediction, long-horizon planning, and environment simulation.
• Improve world model fidelity using vision, language, proprioception, and spatial representations.
• Develop foundation models with spatial reasoning capabilities for high-precision robotic actions.
• Integrate multimodal data, including vision, language, and speech, for natural human-robot communication.
• Optimize and deploy production-grade models on robotic platforms.

Requirements

• PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
• Expertise in large foundation models, including VLMs and VLAs.
• Strong understanding of world model architectures and action-conditioned generative modeling for robot learning.
• Understanding of multimodal models, transformers, diffusion models, and modern machine learning architectures.
• Ability to work in the office five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with video generation or prediction models for world modeling or synthetic data generation.
• Strong publication record at leading machine learning and robotics conferences.
• Experience with neural network deployment, TensorRT, and GPU programming with CUDA.
• Ability to design scalable experimentation and data pipelines.
