Robot Foundation Model Researcher (AI/Robotics)

Estimated base salary: $200,000–$350,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and execute large-scale pretraining runs for transformer- and diffusion-based robot foundation models.
• Define model architectures, objectives, and training curricula across vision, action, state, and language data.
• Develop scalable data mixtures and sampling strategies for petabyte-scale robotic datasets.
• Guide data collection operations and source new datasets for robot intelligence research.
• Run ablations to study scaling laws, data quality, optimization dynamics, and architecture tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with ML Infrastructure and Systems teams to improve cluster utilization, throughput, and reliability.

Requirements

• Deep experience training large transformer or diffusion models at scale, including generative language, audio, or video models.
• Experience leading or significantly contributing to multi-node, multi-GPU distributed training.
• Experience with scaling laws, optimization dynamics, and large-model failure modes.
• Strong PyTorch fundamentals and the ability to debug across the full stack.
• Interest in building general-purpose robot intelligence from first principles.
