Safety Lead

Location: Osaka, Japan; focus on development projects in the Kansai region.

What you will do

• Lead health, safety, and risk management for development projects and help embed safety as a core business value.
• Drive EHS practices, safety initiatives, communications, training programs, and safety management system improvements.
• Mentor general contractor management and staff and influence workers, management, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Support construction contract development and maintain compliance with legal and internal safety requirements.
• Execute assurance schedules, conduct audits and inspections, and assess material safety risks.
• Review near misses and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a safety role involving operations and contractors in high-hazard industries such as construction, oil and gas, mining, or processing plants.
• Proven knowledge and experience in EHS, safety management systems, risk management, auditing, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Experience implementing safety management systems and corrective actions.
• Fluent Japanese and English, both written and spoken.
• Above-average writing and data presentation skills.
• Professional attitude with persuasive skills and the ability to positively influence workers, management, and contractors.
