Machine Shop Manager (Nuclear Manufacturing)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; onsite at a new manufacturing facility

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage daily machining, fabrication, and CNC production operations and translate production schedules into completed parts.
• Directly lead machinists, machine operators, fabricators, and CNC programmers.
• Improve machine utilization, OEE, on-time completion, scrap, and rework performance.
• Coordinate changeovers with Automation & Controls and inspection handoffs with Quality.
• Maintain machine utilization, quality, and safety standards on the shop floor.
• Operate a machine when needed to keep production moving.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in a CNC machine shop environment, including direct supervision of machinists, operators, and fabricators.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to make clear recommendations using first-principles reasoning with partial information.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
• Hands-on CNC machining or fabrication experience, including the ability to operate a mill or lathe.

Nice to have

• Technical degree or trade certification in machining or manufacturing.
• Experience in a fast-paced engineering or highly technical environment.
• Experience with MES, ERP, or CMMS systems for job routing, production tracking, and machine maintenance.
• Experience standing up or scaling a new or growing machine shop.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, nuclear, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
