Principal Product Designer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX; Arlington, VA; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA

Base salary: $230,000–$285,000 in Austin or Arlington; $250,000–$320,000 in New York City or San Francisco

What you will do

• Set the design vision and strategic direction for core product experiences across complex, multi-surface journeys.
• Raise design quality and craft standards through critique, collaboration, and principled decision-making.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research to shape roadmaps from problem framing through execution.
• Lead ambiguous 0→1 and 1→n design initiatives with measurable product and user-experience impact.
• Build scalable design systems and foundational patterns across teams.
• Shape AI strategy, influence executive stakeholders, mentor senior designers, and represent Design in cross-functional planning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience, including experience in a consumer or B2B SaaS company where design was central to product strategy.
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft, systems thinking, and work from early concept through polished execution.
• Experience leading complex, multi-year design initiatives and influencing product and engineering direction at senior leadership level.
• Strong design systems expertise and experience designing products at the intersection of human behavior and technology.
• Exceptional communication, storytelling, growth mindset, and curiosity about AI-enhanced design processes.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI-native product patterns.
• Examples of using Figma plugins, generative design tools, or AI-powered user research analysis.
