Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Photonic AI)

Location: Boston, MA or Mountain View, CA; flexible hybrid workplace model

Salary: $175,000–$220,000 USD per year base salary, plus equity and other rewards.

What you will do

• Develop and extend device software and firmware for photonic compute and photonic interconnect products.
• Define control-plane architecture with photonic, analog, digital, systems, and network engineering teams.
• Design diagnostics and monitoring architecture for photonic transceivers.
• Integrate data-center administration capabilities using CMIS, OpenBMC, and DMTF environments.
• Debug and troubleshoot embedded systems using GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers.
• Engage with customers to gather requirements and usability criteria.

Requirements

• BS and 8+ years of experience, or MS and 6+ years of experience, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Industry experience with device-driver and kernel-side development.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, embedded-system communication, control, peripherals, and buses.
• Experience developing commercial or enterprise software and firmware on Linux.
• Experience with Git and CMake.
• Hands-on experience designing, simulating, or deploying control of autonomous systems.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Python or C++.
• Experience developing firmware for photonic transceivers or similar systems.
• Experience with CMIS, OpenBMC, DMTF, optical communication systems, or related technologies.
• Familiarity with GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers.
