Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Partner with the GM, researchers, and early customers to define strong evaluations across different domains.
• Design and build benchmarks and establish processing standards for different data modalities.
• Build backend infrastructure including data pipelines, execution environments, storage, and orchestration.
• Set up sandboxed environments for agentic evaluations involving tools, code execution, and multi-step tasks.
• Identify repeatable evaluation patterns, infrastructure gaps, and product opportunities from live engagements.
• Own the engineering work for customer engagements end to end and ship iterations of the evaluation infrastructure.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience evaluating machine learning models.
• Previous ownership of backend and infrastructure systems.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, urgent, and fast-moving environments.

Nice to have

• Experience building benchmarks, evaluations, or human data pipelines for large language models.
• Experience at a frontier lab, evaluation-focused team, or research organization.
• Founding or early engineering experience at a fast-moving startup.
• Familiarity with agentic systems, reinforcement learning environments, code-execution sandboxes, and TEE/TREs.
