Senior Mission Systems Software Engineer (C2)

Location: Gardena, California, United States; occasional travel of up to 20% for on-site integration events, field testing, and customer demonstrations.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and maintain modern C++ software for mission systems.
• Contribute to fire control, ground systems, flight software, and command-and-control capabilities.
• Improve software architecture, reliability, maintainability, and testability.
• Develop Linux-based software for embedded and edge computing platforms, including hardware-adjacent systems and sensors.
• Build and debug software communicating over unreliable or constrained networks.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, GNC, and operations teams during development and field integration.

Requirements

• Strong modern C++ experience, including C++23, or demonstrable ability to write high-quality C++.
• Strong computer science fundamentals covering data structures, algorithms, concurrency, memory management, networking, and debugging.
• Professional experience with Linux development, debugging, deployment, operation, and maintenance.
• Networking experience with TCP/UDP, routing, multicast, DNS, DDS, publish/subscribe systems, and Ethernet.
• Understanding of hardware-adjacent software, communication protocols, and sensors.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and meet ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, ROS/ROS2, control algorithms, or path planning.
• Command-and-control, fire control systems, or flight software experience.
• Nix/NixOS experience and a cybersecurity mindset including threat modeling, hardening, or cryptography.
• Applied mathematics experience in linear algebra, optimization, estimation, controls, simulation, or numerical methods.
• Familiarity with REST, gRPC, protobuf, frontend/backend concepts, and databases.
