Senior Mission Systems Software Engineer (C2) (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Gardena, California, United States. Occasional travel of up to 20% is required for integration events, field testing, and customer demonstrations.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and maintain modern C++ software for mission-critical systems.
• Contribute to fire control, ground systems, flight software, and command-and-control capabilities.
• Develop Linux-based applications for embedded and edge computing platforms.
• Integrate software with sensors, hardware-adjacent systems, and distributed networks with unreliable or constrained data links.
• Improve software architecture, reliability, maintainability, and testability while debugging system-level issues.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, GNC, and operations teams through system integration and field testing.

Requirements

• Strong modern C++ experience, including the ability to write high-quality C++23 software.
• Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, memory management, networking, and debugging.
• Experience developing, debugging, deploying, operating, and maintaining Linux systems.
• Networking experience with TCP/UDP, routing, multicast, DNS, DDS, publish/subscribe systems, and Ethernet.
• Understanding of hardware-adjacent software, communication protocols, and sensors.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotics, ROS/ROS2, control algorithms, or path planning.
• Command-and-control, fire control systems, or flight software experience.
• Nix/NixOS experience and a cybersecurity background, including threat modeling, hardening, or cryptography.
• Applied mathematics experience in linear algebra, optimization, estimation, controls, simulation, or numerical methods.
• Familiarity with REST, gRPC, protobuf, databases, and frontend/backend concepts.
