Software Embedded Engineer (Autonomous Drones)

What you will do

• Develop new features across the autonomy stack and partner integrations.
• Define system requirements and translate them into robust software architecture with hardware engineers, product managers, and external partners.
• Design distributed state machines, leader election protocols, and fault-tolerant architectures.
• Implement maintainable code while managing complex concurrency and contention scenarios.
• Develop and run SITL/HITL simulation tests before physical deployment.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, technical documentation, and flight-test investigations.

Requirements

• 1+ years of professional engineering experience in robotics, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
• Deep proficiency in modern C++ or Python, including designing, reasoning about, and debugging highly concurrent systems.
• Experience with embedded systems close to hardware on real-time or safety-critical platforms such as avionics, automotive, or robotics.
• Strong understanding of distributed-system architecture and consensus design selection.
• Experience with release management, versioned artifacts, and pinned dependencies.
• US citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Experience with PX4, MAVLink, and related drone software ecosystems.
