Senior Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and own mission-critical flight software for satellite systems across the full software lifecycle.
• Build rapid iterative software for bench and development testing, as well as rigorously validated software for manufacturing and flight systems.
• Plan and execute unit, integration, and system-level testing while diagnosing and resolving defects.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, test, mission operations, and GNC teams to define requirements and technical roadmaps.
• Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations, troubleshooting software and maintaining critical flight-system reliability.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to access export-controlled data are required.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI access and SAP eligibility are required.
• 8+ years of total flight software experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust.

Nice to have

• Experience developing and operating mission-critical satellite software from prototyping through flight operations.
• Experience with real-time software on distributed hardware platforms and embedded or real-time operating systems.
• Experience with low-level device drivers, satellite communication protocols, networking, secure communications, serialization, and encryption.
• Experience translating requirements into technical solutions, defining roadmaps, and coordinating cross-functional engineering execution.
• Experience with version control, configuration management, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
