Director Underwriting

Location: Working from home in Pennsylvania, United States; travel requirement of 25%–50%.

What you will do

• Lead underwriting operations across designated functions or regions and oversee daily productivity, quality, response times, and workload planning.
• Manage hiring, coaching, development, performance management, recognition, and staff productivity.
• Oversee books of business and collaborate with Underwriting and Sales leadership on portfolio and regional management strategies.
• Provide insights, recommendations, and communication support for critical clients and key stakeholders.
• Review exception-case renewal and prospect quotes, recommend modifications, and help prevent adverse selection and financial loss.
• Execute underwriting strategy while proactively managing risks, issues, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, science, technology, or another quantitative analysis discipline; relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• 7 years of relevant underwriting, risk management, or actuarial experience applying advanced mathematics or quantitative analysis.
• 5 years of leadership experience.
• 5 years of external client interaction or comparable external interaction.
• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of hirify.global plan products, services, and risk assessment techniques.
