Senior BEOL Process Integration Engineer (Photonics)

What you will do

• Own BEOL process integration for the photonic chip across metallization, dielectric deposition, CMP, lithography, etch, and related process steps.
• Drive process development, qualification, transfer, and continuous improvement from development environments to high-volume manufacturing.
• Define process specifications, control limits, SPC strategies, test structures, acceptance criteria, and Known Good Die screening standards.
• Review GDS layouts for process compatibility, identify DRC/DFM and integration risks, and recommend design modifications.
• Lead fault isolation, yield-excursion debugging, physical failure analysis, and root-cause corrective actions using electrical, optical, metrology, and physical characterization data.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with the foundry and collaborate with device physics, design, and product engineering teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience as a BEOL or FEOL process integration engineer, FAB device engineer, product engineer, or process engineer in a semiconductor foundry or IDM.
• Hands-on knowledge of optical lithography, dry and wet etch, CVD, PVD, ALD, CMP, and Cu, W, or Al metallization.
• Experience reading GDS/GDSII layouts, identifying process-relevant design features, and communicating DFM feedback.
• Experience with fault isolation and failure analysis using electrical test data and techniques such as SEM, FIB, TEM, or EDX.
• Willingness to work full-time on-site at the foundry in Belgium. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required.

• Experience with process development or transfer between development and manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with photonic or optoelectronic device processing.
