Senior BEOL (Back-End-Of-Line) Process Integration Engineer

What you will do

• Own BEOL process integration for an advanced photonic chip, including metallization, dielectric deposition, CMP, lithography, and etch.
• Drive process development, qualification, continuous improvement, and transfer from development environments to high-volume manufacturing.
• Define process specifications, control limits, test structures, acceptance criteria, and SPC strategies for critical BEOL steps.
• Review GDS layouts for process compatibility, identify DRC and DFM risks, and recommend design-rule or layout improvements.
• Lead fault isolation, physical failure analysis, excursion management, and root-cause corrective actions using electrical, optical, metrology, and physical analysis data.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with the foundry and collaborate with device physics, design, product engineering, and engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in BEOL or FEOL process integration, fab device engineering, product engineering, or process engineering in a semiconductor foundry or IDM.
• Hands-on knowledge of optical lithography, dry and wet etch, CVD, PVD, ALD, CMP, and Cu, W, or Al metallization.
• Experience interpreting GDS/GDSII layouts, identifying process-relevant design features, and providing DFM feedback.
• Experience leading fault isolation and failure analysis using techniques such as SEM, FIB, TEM, and EDX, together with electrical test and process data.
• Willingness to work full-time on-site at the foundry in Belgium. Strong English communication skills are required.

• Experience with process development or transfer between development and manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with photonic or optoelectronic device processing.
