What you will do
- Lead editorial and logistical coverage of breaking, developing, continuing, and community news stories.
- Research, coordinate, pitch, and implement coverage for newsroom and field crews.
- Assess breaking-news needs and book experts and community members to support stories.
- Collaborate with website, social media, and streaming teams.
- Monitor and break news through social media platforms and tools.
- Coordinate with affiliates and news channel counterparts while maintaining story and contact files.
Requirements
- At least four years of experience in broadcast news, assignment coordination, and generating story ideas.
- At least two years of experience as an Assignment Editor.
- Working knowledge of police scanners and live production/transmission.
- Bachelorβs degree in Journalism or Communications preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work any 24/7 shift, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, and to work full-time from the designated worksite.

- Spanish and English bilingual ability.
- Strong news judgment, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and interest in multi-platform news.
