Nightside Assignment Editor

Location: Full-time on-site work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; unrestricted authorization to work in the United States required.

What you will do

• Lead editorial and logistical coverage of breaking, developing, continuing, and community news stories.
• Research, coordinate, pitch, and implement coverage for newsroom and field crews.
• Assess breaking-news needs and book experts and community members to support stories.
• Collaborate with website, social media, and streaming teams.
• Monitor and break news through social media platforms and tools.
• Coordinate with affiliates and news channel counterparts while maintaining story and contact files.

Requirements

• At least four years of experience in broadcast news, assignment coordination, and generating story ideas.
• At least two years of experience as an Assignment Editor.
• Working knowledge of police scanners and live production/transmission.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work any 24/7 shift, including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts, and to work full-time from the designated hirify.global worksite.
