Perception Machine Learning Engineer - Continuous Learning

Location: Onsite in Mountain View, California, United States. The role description also refers to the position as hybrid.

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Design and scale data pipelines for mining, ingesting, and managing large volumes of fleet sensor data.
• Apply active learning to select informative data for continuous perception model improvement.
• Develop real-world model evaluation methods, regression detection, and ground-truth-free performance metrics.
• Run experiments on data balancing, subset selection, label quality, pruning, and downsampling.
• Build mining, training, and evaluation pipelines for rare and safety-critical driving scenarios.
• Use uncertainty estimates, confidence scores, and embedding analysis to identify model blind spots and guide data acquisition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in machine learning and/or computer vision.
• Hands-on production experience with active learning and large-scale ML data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data curation, balancing, core-set selection, and sampling.
• Proficiency in Python and a deep learning framework such as PyTorch or JAX.
• Strong software engineering skills for developing robust, production-ready code.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Machine Learning, Robotics, or Computer Science.
• Publications at top-tier machine learning, computer vision, or robotics conferences and journals.
• Experience with C++.
• Experience building data-centric infrastructure from the ground up.
