Staff Cloud Backend Engineer (Database)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable, high-performance SQL and NoSQL database systems.
• Design data models and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, indexes, and storage strategies.
• Implement time-series databases and optimize OLAP/OLTP systems for high-frequency ingestion, low latency, scalability, and reliability.
• Design ETL pipelines and data integration across cloud backend storage systems.
• Implement partitioning, sharding, replication, data integrity, consistency, and security strategies.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, software engineers, data engineering, analytics, and product teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering across SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Advanced SQL expertise, including query optimization, indexing, and stored procedures.
• Experience with time-series databases such as TimescaleDB, Apache Druid, or Apache Pinot, and with high-scale OLAP/OLTP systems.
• Strong experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Scylla, including data modeling.
• Experience with cloud database services, infrastructure as code, and programming in Golang, Java, Scala, or similar languages.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Kafka and streaming data integration.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for database deployment.
• Experience with real-time analytics and data warehousing solutions.
