Optical Systems Engineer Lead (Photonics)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor engineers designing optical transceiver products from concept through implementation.
• Define system specifications and oversee end-to-end optical system models covering DSP, drivers, TIAs, lasers, MZMs, and photodetectors.
• Guide signal integrity analysis and simulation of FFE, DFE, MLSD, and pre-emphasis techniques.
• Set verification requirements for transceivers and optical components.
• Analyze noise, crosstalk, non-linearity, reflections, and other impairments affecting high-speed optical links.
• Coordinate numerical and analytical simulations and correlate models with experimental data at module and component levels.

Requirements

• Leadership experience in transceiver design and high-speed optical communication systems and components.
• Knowledge of direct-detection and coherent optical communication architectures.
• Experience modeling optoelectronic components with VPIphotonics, MATLAB, or Python.
• Knowledge of advanced DSP techniques, including FFE and DFE, and common high-speed optical-link impairments.
• Hands-on experience measuring high-speed optical components with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and related equipment.
• MS or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field; willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
