Physician Coding Liaison (Medical Coding)

Location: Remote - Nationwide, United States; 20–40% travel to client sites may be required, including onsite work at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require.

Salary: $57,400–$99,000 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Coordinate communications and information exchange between physicians and the PRC Coding team.
• Answer specialty-specific coding questions and manage coding escalations by telephone and email.
• Educate and train physicians and coders on specialty coding guidelines and best practices.
• Review coder communications for accuracy, compliance, timeliness, and alignment with standard workflows.
• Analyze coding trends and root causes to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support or lead coding improvement projects, complete special coding assignments, and perform production coding as needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of medical coding experience, preferably in physician coding and Orthopedics, Surgery, OB, or multispecialty care.
• Strong knowledge of specialty-specific coding guidelines and regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or equivalent experience.
• At least one current professional certification is required: CPC, CCS-P, CCS, CMPA, RHIA, or RHIT.
• Flexibility to work around project timelines and physician schedules, with openness to innovation including AI.

Nice to have

• CPC, CPMA, or CCS certification.
