Lead Engineers (AI/IoT)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; on-site with office attendance as the default

What you will do

• Take on complex engineering problems and ship robust production software.
• Make important architectural decisions and implement them in code.
• Build and scale platforms, pipelines, distributed systems, APIs, and product experiences across web, mobile, and hardware-integrated services.
• Set standards for clean, observable, maintainable, and high-performance systems.
• Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Own reliability, performance, testing, CI/CD, infrastructure, and on-call responsibilities for the relevant domain.

Requirements

• Several years of experience shipping complex production systems.
• Strong product-engineering mindset, sound judgment under pressure, low ego, and the ability to guide teams through difficult work.
• Experience using AI tools to improve engineering output.
• Experience with cloud environments; AWS is beneficial.
• Role-specific experience may include React or React Native, REST APIs, distributed systems, relational and non-relational databases, Node, Kotlin, Go, AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, and on-call tooling.
• Ability to work from the Auckland office on an office-first basis and visit farms to build domain knowledge.

Nice to have

• Degree in software engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience with AWS, React Native, Node, Kotlin, Go, or systems integrating with hardware and IoT.
