Materials Engineer

Location: Penang, Malaysia; onsite, day shift; 25% travel required.

What you will do

• Source engineering materials for PCA, electronics, electro-mechanical, and mechanical applications to improve supplier piece-part quality.
• Identify and evaluate alternative materials and suppliers to improve quality, supply assurance, and pricing.
• Provide technical support for New Product Introduction and product transfer activities.
• Interpret specifications, assess documentation adequacy, determine dispositions for non-conforming materials, and train users on inspection measuring equipment.
• Plan inspection and test requirements, analyze results, provide quality-performance feedback, and follow up on supplier quality issues.
• Support manufacturing with material-related issues and lead supplier quality-improvement and substitute-material sourcing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering Sciences, or an equivalent field, with 3–5 years of related experience.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all organizational levels.
• Flexibility to switch roles, responsibilities, and tasks as needed.
• Resourcefulness, attention to detail, sound analytical skills, and the ability to offer solutions.
• Ability and willingness to work under aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
