R&D Software Integration Engineer (Autonomous Flight)

Salary: $167,000–$208,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain a full-stack autonomy system flown in surrogate aircraft.
• Develop software for end-to-end testing of embedded sensors from simulation through flight testing.
• Integrate software modules into helicopter platforms and bench setups.
• Work with systems engineers to interpret functional and performance requirements for confliction detection, navigation, and flight path management systems.
• Create flight-test plans covering required tests, sensor and ground-truth data collection, and expected results.
• Build automation for software deployment, data extraction, monitoring, and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, STEM, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of industry software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python for robotics, low-level device I/O, or network-based services.
• Experience with Linux configuration management, shell scripting, Docker or containerization, and project management, bug tracking, or continuous integration tools such as JIRA.
• Experience capturing, monitoring, and analyzing network traffic with tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, or iPerf.

Nice to have

• Experience with RTOS, low-level C/C++ software, and the GNU toolchain.
• Experience with software- and hardware-in-the-loop flight simulator testing strategies.
• Familiarity with Agile development, unit testing, test-driven development, and flight-test operations.
• Knowledge of aviation sensors such as ADS-B, GPS, INS, and ACAS.
• Knowledge of embedded communication protocols including CAN, ARINC, I2C, and SPI, or Google Cloud and BigQuery.
