Application Engineer (Drone Technology)

Location: Framingham, Massachusetts, United States; travel to customer sites and hirify.global offices is required.

Salary: $112,012.60–$168,018.91 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Help customers integrate custom payloads, sensors, and companion computers into multiple drone platforms.
• Support mission-specific architectural designs, system configuration, and deployment planning.
• Manage software and firmware builds for customer deployments and support PixHawk-compliant payloads and accessories.
• Support autopilot builds using PX4, ArduPilot, Betaflight, and related systems.
• Conduct benchtop, integration, and flight testing to validate customer configurations.
• Create integration documentation, user guides, video tutorials, API documentation, and support materials while troubleshooting customer issues and capturing feedback for product improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or computer engineering, robotics, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–5 years of experience with autonomous systems, drones, robotics, or related applications is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with electronics integration, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping is preferred.
• Ability to provide customer-facing technical support, integration testing, and deployment assistance.

Nice to have

• Experience with open-source flight-control systems such as ArduPilot or PX4.
• Familiarity with defense or commercial drone applications.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Orin GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon, or similar companion-computing platforms.
