hirify.global is developing commercial fusion energy through a planar-coil stellarator architecture that uses computer-controlled arrays of planar coils.

What you will do

  • Define the diagnostics roadmap for the Eos device and future fusion power plants.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of diagnostic physicists, optical engineers, and electrical engineers.
  • Manage the diagnostics budget, vendors, procurement, and specialized hardware.
  • Oversee the design and integration of interferometry, reflectometry, Thomson scattering, magnetics, spectroscopy, neutron, and X-ray diagnostic systems.
  • Collaborate with software engineering and AI simulation teams to connect sensor measurements with real-time machine optimization and the Helios digital twin.
  • Lead diagnostics partnerships with national laboratories and academic institutions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Plasma Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating advanced plasma diagnostics on magnetic confinement fusion devices.
  • Experience leading engineering or scientific teams and managing technical budgets and project schedules.
  • Expertise in multiple diagnostic modalities, including magnetic probes, flux loops, lasers, and spectrometers.
  • Experience designing for high-vacuum and high-radiation environments.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-autonomy startup environment.
