Senior Software Engineer, Database (Python/Kubernetes)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; onsite four days per week

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and evolve the database tooling platform and its self-service deployment model.
• Extend the platform for cloud technologies and reduce operational overhead for internal engineering customers.
• Shape software and tooling architecture with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with database technology teams to understand requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Review designs and code, own features and components, and provide mentorship on database tooling development.
• Support customer-facing teams and game-studio partners with new feature rollouts, consultancy, and technical problem solving.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including work in critical production service environments.
• Strong development skills in multiple programming languages, especially Python.
• Experience designing and building tooling and well-designed APIs for other engineers.
• Database design experience with MySQL and NoSQL databases, plus experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration.
• Solid understanding of TCP, HTTP, TLS, requirements analysis, system design, and technical problem solving.
• Strong communication, analytical, investigative, collaborative, and independent-working skills.

Nice to have

• Software engineering experience with Golang.
• Experience with continuous integration and agile methodologies.
• Experience building backend services with RESTful APIs, Linux, and open-source technologies.
• Experience with large-scale services supporting up to millions of concurrent users.
