TL;DR
Software Engineer (COBOL): Enhancing and supporting lending automotive applications and client custom code with an accent on COBOL/JCL development, VSAM/CICS databases, and defect analysis. Focus on designing product enhancements, debugging system defects, developing data-modifying scripts, and coordinating resolutions across technical and business teams.
Location: Remote within the United States; position based in US FL JAX 347.

What you will do
- Analyze application code to identify root causes of bugs and system defects.
- Architect and design solutions for product enhancements, regulatory changes, and corrections.
- Develop and execute scripts, utilities, and associated test plans, including scripts that modify data unavailable through the user interface.
- Research system defects with internal clients, vendors, managers, IT, and Product Development teams.
- Document, communicate, and follow up on resolutions while escalating issues when necessary.
- Represent the team in cross-functional support and development activities and present findings to management.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with application development methodologies.
- Knowledge of COBOL and JCL programming.
- Knowledge of VSAM and CICS database and application technologies.
- Experience with interface design, development, and debugging tools and methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong internal customer service skills and willingness to share technical and industry expertise.
