Data Manager / Business Analyst (m/f/d) (Metadata): Managing and improving publication metadata, content feeds, and data delivery services for libraries, platforms, and partners with an accent on business analysis, agile facilitation, and data quality. Focus on translating business needs into actionable requirements, operating XML-based feeds, supporting infrastructure migration, and improving automation and system reliability.
Location: Heidelberg, Germany; hybrid working model

What you will do
- Translate business needs into problem statements, user needs, acceptance criteria, and development-ready work items.
- Analyze and document processes, data flows, dependencies, and system impacts across the DDS publication data platform.
- Facilitate Kanban refinement, planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement using flow metrics.
- Manage metadata and content feeds such as ONIX, XML, and MARC for libraries, archives, national institutions, and third-party platforms.
- Configure and operate automated data delivery processes, including German library consortium and legal deposit processes.
- Improve data quality, feed configurations, infrastructure migration, TDM feeds, automation, system stability, and performance.
Requirements
- Experience in business analysis, data management, or a similar technical or data-driven role.
- Experience working in an agile environment such as Kanban, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands-on experience with metadata, data feeds, or data delivery systems, including XML, XSLT, and system integrations.
- Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge and familiarity with ONIX, MARC, or OAI.
- Ability to structure complex topics, take ownership, and deliver sustainable, high-quality solutions.
- Fluent English required; German communication skills are highly desirable for partner interaction.
Nice to have
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of publishing, libraries, or metadata ecosystems.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, SFTP, or cloud storage technologies.
- Understanding of accessibility standards, including the European Accessibility Act, and metadata compliance.
