Product Design Engineer, Thermals (AI Hardware)

What you will do

• Own thermal architecture from early concepts and NPI through production, including simulation, material selection, thermal solution design, and cost optimization.
• Translate product use cases and real-world usage profiles into thermal loading scenarios for early design iteration.
• Perform thermal analysis at analytic, coarse, and high-fidelity levels to guide architecture decisions.
• Design custom thermal test infrastructure and measurement methods for each product program.
• Collaborate with industrial design, mechanical, electrical, software, and firmware teams on power budgets, enclosure design, and silicon selection.

Requirements

• 8+ years of thermal engineering experience with multiple shipped battery-powered consumer electronics products.
• Expert-level experience with Icepak, Fluent, Ansys, or similar thermal simulation tools, including real-world correlation.
• Deep experience with heat pipes, vapor chambers, TIMs, graphite spreaders, and vendor evaluation at scale.
• Experience with system-level power and thermal co-optimization alongside software or firmware teams.
• Ability to build custom thermal test setups and make data-backed architecture decisions during early NPI phases.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills for translating thermal trade-offs into actionable engineering and design decisions.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with UL and IEC thermal regulatory and safety compliance for consumer products.
• Experience building internal thermal modeling tools, dashboards, or automated test frameworks.
