Lead Gameplay Animator (AAA Games)

Location: Malmö, Sweden or Warsaw, Poland; onsite work four days per week

What you will do

• Lead and support a team of animators through direction, feedback, and mentorship.
• Create high-quality gameplay animations and animation systems using animation principles, gameplay fundamentals, and motion capture.
• Apply knowledge of game design mechanics, character, camera and controls, AI behavior, narrative design, camera animation, and facial animation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared creative goals and deliver polished gameplay experiences.
• Troubleshoot animation tool implementations and improve workflows, team effectiveness, and creative output.

Requirements

• Credited experience on at least one shipped AAA game title.
• Expertise with game engines and animation systems.
• Experience with motion capture workflows, including editing and cleanup.
• Strong understanding of human and creature movement, including timing, weight, and balance.
• Experience leading or mentoring animators, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to support professional growth.
• Proficiency in Maya and the ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.

Nice to have

• Understanding of character creation processes such as modeling, texturing, and rigging.
• Experience leading animation efforts on a content-focused AAA team.
• Industry recognition for animation work.
• Experience in quest design, environment art, or programming.
