Staff Infrastructure Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the United States; participation in a shared US-business-hours on-call rotation. hirify.global also operates hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago.

Salary: $187,000–$235,000 USD annual base pay for all other US locations; $215,000–$265,000 USD for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, operating model, and modernization roadmap for cloud infrastructure and shared services.
• Design, build, and operate AWS and Kubernetes platforms as code with Terraform, ArgoCD, and GitHub Actions.
• Establish safe, reviewed AI-assisted workflows for infrastructure changes, documentation, incident triage, and support.
• Improve IAM, RBAC, identity management, network boundaries, secrets hygiene, and SOC2-aligned compliance.
• Drive reliability, scalability, developer experience, observability, and FinOps cost optimization.
• Raise the infrastructure team’s technical standards through design reviews, mentorship, documentation, incident response, and runbooks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering experience with deep hands-on AWS expertise at production scale.
• Terraform used as a primary infrastructure-as-code tool and experience operating Kubernetes platforms.
• Experience taking ownership of ambiguous, inherited, or under-documented systems and establishing durable operating practices.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or AWS Bedrock, with strong judgment on safe use and output validation.
• Security and compliance experience in a regulated environment, including HIPAA, SOC2, or an equivalent framework.
• Staff-level technical influence through architecture, standards, reviews, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.

Nice to have

• Experience with Okta, OIDC, SAML, Envoy, or similar identity and service-networking technologies.
• Scripting and automation with Python, Go, or Bash.
• FinOps, cloud cost optimization, platform-scale observability, or Snowflake experience.
