Senior DNS Infrastructure Engineer

hirify.global is building a European AI cloud for training, experimenting with, and deploying AI models, powered by GPUs running on renewable energy.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, scaling, and operation of global PowerDNS authoritative and recursive infrastructure.
• Use dnsdist for intelligent load balancing, query filtering, and denial-of-service mitigation.
• Automate DNS zones, records, and configuration through SaltStack, Ansible, and a strict GitOps infrastructure-as-code model.
• Design dynamic subdomain delegation and multi-tenant routing for safe, programmatic record provisioning and teardown.
• Build globally distributed Anycast DNS in partnership with the networking team using BGP.
• Document DNS systems and create runbooks for SRE and platform teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience architecting, tuning, and operating PowerDNS Authoritative, Recursor, and dnsdist at massive scale.
• Deep knowledge of DNS internals, including TSIG, DNSSEC automation, EDNS, SOA timers, and query and response optimization.
• Understanding of database-backed DNS using MySQL or PostgreSQL and global query distribution through BGP Anycast.
• 5+ years of infrastructure management experience with SaltStack or Ansible and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Ability to explain DNS routing, delegation anomalies, and propagation delays clearly to technical and leadership stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Custom Lua scripting for advanced dnsdist traffic management or security filtering.
• Contributions to the PowerDNS community or IETF/DNSOP working groups.
• Experience with DNS-over-TLS or DNS-over-HTTPS at scale.
