Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (AI/ML)

What you will do

• Identify high-impact AI opportunities across process engineering, yield improvement, visual inspection, quality control, operations, and reporting workflows.
• Assess manufacturing operations by observing workflows and interviewing frontline employees, supervisors, trainers, quality leaders, and operations leadership.
• Design, prototype, validate, and deploy AI/ML solutions for visual inspection, defect classification, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, root-cause analysis, process optimization, and yield improvement.
• Translate manufacturing problems into technical designs covering data requirements, model approaches, architecture, validation, user interfaces, and deployment paths.
• Work with structured and unstructured data from databases, equipment logs, inspection systems, MES, yield systems, engineering reports, and plant data sources.
• Communicate technical concepts to engineers, operators, managers, and senior leaders, while mentoring local engineers and analysts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, AI engineering, manufacturing analytics, process engineering analytics, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML models in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Practical experience with LLMs and generative AI for data analysis, workflow automation, knowledge retrieval, reporting, or engineering productivity.
• Strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, OpenCV, and LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably Oracle or another enterprise database system, plus end-to-end prototyping involving models, backend logic, interfaces, dashboards, APIs, or workflow tools.
• English communication skills sufficient for interaction with teams in the US and Europe.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor, photonics, electronics, optical components, precision manufacturing, or other high-volume advanced manufacturing environments.
• Experience with MES, SPC, yield management, equipment automation, inspection, or quality management systems.
