Senior Backend Developer (Python)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year, plus a potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build backend systems for creating, configuring, scheduling, and delivering campaigns across email, SMS, push, and other channels.
• Develop campaign authoring and content assembly systems that resolve creative variants, templates, targeting rules, and audience eligibility before delivery.
• Build reliable handoff, monitoring, visibility, and alerting capabilities for campaign delivery.
• Integrate audience segmentation and personalization signals with Product and engineering teams.
• Create extensible systems that support new campaign types, channels, and scheduling rules.
• Own complex backend features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, production support, and on-call operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building large-scale, fault-tolerant, highly concurrent distributed systems.
• Strong backend development skills, especially Python, along with design, testing, Git, code review, and CI/CD experience.
• Strong experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of RESTful and GraphQL APIs, gRPC, cloud platforms, and distributed technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
