Platform Engineer, AI

Location: Hybrid in Long Beach, California, or Denver, Colorado; at least 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $120,000–$225,000 in Colorado or $125,000–$235,000 in California, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and maintain AI platform components, including API integrations, system connectors, authentication flows, and data pipelines.
• Develop custom AI-powered applications and workflows for specific engineering, operational, and business use cases.
• Write clean, well-tested code in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and platform architecture decisions.
• Maintain API references, integration guides, troubleshooting resources, and internal AI enablement materials.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and IT teams to meet government security and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Software engineering experience building and shipping production code in Python, TypeScript, or a similar language.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools and understanding of their limitations.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and other software integration patterns.
• Understanding of large language model APIs, prompting, tool use, or retrieval-augmented generation.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance are required.
• Eligibility to meet U.S. government ITAR requirements is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, testing frameworks, or DevOps practices.
• Experience integrating enterprise software such as Slack, Jira, or Confluence.
• Background in government, defense, or regulated industries.
• Experience with CrewAI, Pydantic AI, LangChain, embedding systems, or vector databases.
• Active U.S. Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
