TL;DR

Location: On-site in Singapore or San Jose; willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time is required.

What you will do

  • Lead optical transceiver product design from concept through implementation.
  • Define specifications and build end-to-end optical system models covering DSP, drivers, TIAs, lasers, Mach-Zehnder modulators, and photodetectors.
  • Perform signal integrity analysis and simulate equalization techniques including FFE, DFE, MLSD, and pre-emphasis.
  • Define verification requirements for transceivers and optical components.
  • Analyze noise, crosstalk, non-linearity, reflections, and other high-speed optical link impairments.
  • Run numerical and analytical simulations and correlate models with experimental module- and component-level data.

Requirements

  • Experience designing transceivers and high-speed optical communication systems and components.
  • Familiarity with direct-detection and coherent optical communication architectures.
  • Experience modeling optoelectronic components such as lasers, modulators, photodiodes, DACs, ADCs, drivers, and TIAs using VPIphotonics, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Knowledge of advanced DSP techniques, including FFE and DFE, and common impairments in high-speed optical links.
  • Hands-on experience measuring high-speed optical components with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and related equipment.
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related technical field; strong communication skills required.
