Senior Epitaxy Equipment Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom; onsite at the Caswell semiconductor manufacturing site. Day shift: 08:00–16:00. Cleanroom work, cleanroom clothing, occasional weekend overtime, and on-call support may be required. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Provide equipment engineering support to Epitaxy Shift Equipment Engineers and Technicians, including daily production support, fault finding, repairs, and continuous improvement.
• Plan maintenance with Manufacturing and Process teams and develop preventative maintenance strategies to maximize equipment utilization and uptime.
• Improve, upgrade, install, commission, and release new tools to process, providing technical input for equipment procurement.
• Maintain MOVPE and associated equipment, including phosphorous-trap and gas-cylinder changes using SCBA, with training provided as necessary.
• Manage chemicals, process gases, spare parts, chemical fills, waste, logistics projects, equipment relocation, cleanroom organization, and shipping.
• Provide technical direction to technicians, coordinate with suppliers and service providers, supervise external contractors and field service engineers, and support site emergency response.

Requirements

• HNC or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent time-served apprenticeship.
• At least 5 years of experience in a wafer fab or epitaxy engineering environment, including semiconductor engineering experience with MOVPE and/or MOCVD.
• Electrical engineering experience covering low- and high-voltage work.
• Experience in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vacuum systems, including Hi-Vac principles, pumps, and leak checking; pneumatic systems; and PLC operation and use.
• Ability to read and quickly understand equipment wiring and mechanical schematics.
• Experience using hazardous process gases.
• Competent Microsoft Office user.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom, wear cleanroom clothing and SCBA, and remain clean shaven for SCBA use.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Electrical qualifications such as BS7671 18th edition.
• Experience with Aixtron MOVPE reactors or other CVD equipment.
• Semiconductor process-gas experience, including Mass Flow Controllers.
• Experience with dry abatement systems.
