Patent Agent I - Remote

Location: Remote within the United States; travel less than 5%.

Salary: $117,300–$176,000 per year, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Advise product development teams on intellectual property strategy, risks, opportunities, and protection options.
• Prepare, obtain, and analyze patent searches and assess patentability, prior art, non-infringement, and validity.
• Support product IP clearance and monitor relevant third-party intellectual property rights.
• Educate employees on intellectual property issues and support internal IP policies and compliance.
• Partner with engineers, sourcing and product managers, executives, and other internal stakeholders to resolve time-sensitive issues.

Requirements

• BS or MS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a similar field.
• 3–5 years of direct intellectual property experience focused on product clearance, preferably at a top law firm or established in-house legal team.
• USPTO registration.
• Strong legal, analytical, written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and internal clients under tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with power tools, hand tools, machinery, or related industries.
• Familiarity with trademarks.
