Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Calgary, Canada; required to work from the Calgary office two days per week

What you will do

• Apply machine learning, generative AI, agentic AI, and large language models to geoscience and subsurface-modelling challenges.
• Develop, optimize, and evaluate AI/ML algorithms, prototypes, and integrated solutions for customer workflows.
• Lead data acquisition, assess data integrity, and create data-cleaning strategies and training datasets.
• Research AI/ML developments and integrate user challenges into the design, maintenance, and deployment of ML applications.
• Present technical findings and collaborate across disciplines to expand AI capabilities.

Requirements

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in machine learning, data science, quantitative science, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of machine-learning research and development experience, including deep learning and advanced techniques.
• Experience with large language models, LangChain, LangGraph, and complex orchestration of agentic solutions.
• Programming experience with Python and PyTorch, plus modern data-plotting libraries such as D3 or Plotly.
• Experience with cloud-based data solutions and the ability to work with imagery, GIS, or 3D data such as point clouds and meshes.
• Hybrid work from the Calgary office is required two days per week.

Nice to have

• Commercial software development experience.
• Experience applying AI models to imagery, GIS, or 3D data.
• Knowledge of geomodelling, geophysics, or geostatistics workflows.
