Associate Test Engineer (Automotive)

Location: On-site work in Garching, Germany is required, with the possibility of partial remote work. The role may also involve occasional testing at customer or project locations.

What you will do

• Support feasibility studies, literature reviews, and technology investigations for in-cabin experience and occupant monitoring applications.
• Test and evaluate child presence detection, occupant detection, drowsiness detection, alcohol intoxication detection, and drug impairment detection features.
• Execute test protocols, analyze results, document defects, and maintain validation reports.
• Prepare and validate hardware and software demo environments and support customer demonstrations.
• Evaluate synthetic data, digital scenario generation, and other digital testing methods for Driver Monitoring Systems and Occupant Monitoring Systems.
• Support test automation, software release readiness assessments, test strategy improvements, and coordination with product teams and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Python programming and data analysis.
• Experience in an RTOS/C++ or MATLAB/Simulink development environment.
• Knowledge of software and system testing methodologies, with strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Legal authorization to work in Germany and ability to work on-site in Garching are required.
• Fluent English communication skills, written and spoken, are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with computer vision, Driver Monitoring Systems, Occupant Monitoring Systems, synthetic data, or simulation-based validation.
• Knowledge of automotive software development processes, V-model methodologies, test automation frameworks, and scripting.
• Experience with IPG CarMaker, CARLA, RTOS-based embedded systems, automotive communication protocols, or vehicle integration.
• Exposure to machine learning, data science, or perception algorithm development.
