Safety Software Test Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Hamburg, Germany (Hybrid: up to 8 days of mobile work per month)

What you will do

• Analyze safety-related software requirements and translate them into structured test specifications and cases.
• Develop and execute automated test routines for safety-critical wind turbine systems using Python and Exam MicroNova.
• Configure and maintain real-time simulation environments to verify software functionalities.
• Document test results and findings in accordance with ISO 13849-2 and the Machinery Directive.
• Perform regression testing as part of the software release process.
• Collaborate with software, system, and safety engineering teams to validate software specifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Automation Technology, or a comparable field.
• Practical experience in software testing for safety-critical or embedded systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Sound knowledge of the Machinery Directive and ISO 13849-2 processes.
• Familiarity with Ethernet technologies, bus systems, and real-time simulation systems.
• Fluent English skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Exam MicroNova or WINMOD simulations.
• Certification as a software tester (e.g., ISTQB).
• Knowledge of German or Spanish language.
