Software Engineer, Marketplace Logistic

Location: Onsite in Mountain View, California or San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.

Waymo develops autonomous driving technology and operates a fully autonomous ride-hailing service powered by the Waymo Driver.

What you will do

• Implement and scale the core economic engine for Waymo’s ride-hailing services.
• Build systems that manage trip requests, match riders with vehicles, calculate ride prices, and position vehicles for future demand.
• Develop infrastructure for training and deploying optimization and prediction ML models for real-time pricing, matching, and positioning decisions.
• Create experimentation, monitoring, and analysis infrastructure for deployed models.
• Partner with product data scientists to develop and productionize pricing and matching models.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages.
• Experience building backend distributed systems.
• Experience with low-latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems, ML or optimization infrastructure, and production model deployment is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience in C++.
• MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience at a ride-hailing or marketplace company.
