Optical Fabrication Technician

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work in a cleanroom and manufacturing environment. Front End Nights: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday. The position requires a compressed twelve-hour shift schedule rotating between three and four days per week.

What you will do

• Fabricate optical components using CNC milling, grinding, polishing, deposition, alignment, assembly, and advanced metrology processes.
• Operate and monitor optical processing equipment while handling delicate components and identifying abnormal characteristics.
• Inspect and map glass surfaces for minute defects, clean optical surfaces, and perform in-process and final quality inspections.
• Maintain tooling, equipment, and the processing area according to 5S, safety, and workplace organization standards.
• Document and escalate safety, product, and process quality concerns while supporting production schedules.
• Collaborate with Production Engineering and Manufacturing Management on operational efficiency and continuous improvement, and assist with employee training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous manufacturing experience or vocational certification preferred.
• Ability to read gauges, measuring devices, mathematical and geometrical data, and document problems using facts and data.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, communication skills, accountability, and willingness to learn.
• Willingness to work in a cleanroom wearing required protective clothing for the entire shift and to work around lasers, chemicals, solvents, moving equipment, and moderate to high noise.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in a vocational trade.
• Experience with microscopes, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines, or interferometers.
• Participation in quality circles, kaizen events, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
