Technical Vehicle Test Operator (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role requires local and multi-day travel across the U.S., including air travel.

Salary: $29.15–$43.73 per hour USD

What you will do

• Drive prototype test vehicles on local missions of up to 300–400 miles and on selected multi-day trips across the U.S.
• Perform vehicle start-up, engagement, disengagement, and shutdown procedures in accordance with safety and compliance protocols.
• Test autonomous driving systems on public roads and closed courses while prioritizing the safety of all road users.
• Assemble, modify, repair, and troubleshoot prototype assets using hand tools, software, schematics, prints, and work instructions.
• Document configuration changes, diagnostic events, asset health, build updates, and test findings using automated tools.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on sensor, compute, software, hardware, design reviews, demos, and process documentation; coach team members and support shift activities when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least two years of employment experience.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of residence and a driving record meeting hirify.global requirements.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States is required; employment eligibility verification is required at hire.
• Ability to pass ten-panel drug screening and criminal background checks before employment and periodically thereafter.
• Comfort with long hours of driving, close working quarters, travel, and maintaining professionalism and focus.
• Technical proficiency with computers, command-line interfaces, terminal commands, GitHub, troubleshooting, and work management tools such as Jira and Slack.

• Experience in technical driving, fleet operations, or vehicle testing environments with strict compliance procedures.
