What you will do
- Identify opportunities across X, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, WhatsApp, and emerging distribution channels to grow reach and referral traffic.
- Create platform-specific social content that drives engagement, conversation, and clicks to editorial coverage.
- Edit reporter videos and other video content, writing copy optimized for each platform.
- Support live social coverage of breaking news, major sporting events, and key football moments.
- Monitor platform trends, audience behavior, and algorithm changes while testing new formats and distribution strategies.
- Analyze performance data, share insights with the newsroom, collaborate on distribution plans, build fan communities, and launch breaking-news emails.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in social media, sports media, or publishing.
- Professional experience using X, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and WhatsApp, including managing large social channels.
- Video editing experience and experience creating graphics.
- Strong writing skills with close attention to detail and grammar.
- Knowledge of Premier League, European, international, and women’s football, plus working knowledge of major US sports.
- Flexibility to work early, late, and weekend shifts around the sporting calendar, particularly European football.
