Animation Lead (3D)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid with three days in the office

What you will do

• Lead the animation and cinematic execution of trailers, cinematics, user acquisition ads and marketing videos for Monopoly GO!, from brief through storyboard, layout and animation.
• Direct and review storyboards and animatics, ensuring narrative clarity, composition, staging, camera language, pacing, acting and timing.
• Supervise 3D layout and character animation, providing creative direction, feedback and support to Storyboard Artists and Animators.
• Coordinate asset checks, dependencies and handoffs across Animation, Assets and Lighting teams, including UE5 and C4D pipelines.
• Collaborate with creatives, producers, discipline leads, motion designers, multidisciplinary teams and external vendors to maintain quality and meet deadlines.
• Identify production risks, contribute hands-on to Autodesk Maya layout or animation when possible, and explore AI-assisted workflows for storyboarding, previs, animation and planning.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in 3D animation, cinematics, advertising, games, feature animation, VFX or related entertainment.
• Previous experience as a Lead Animator, Animation Director, Supervising Animator or in a comparable project and team leadership role.
• Strong portfolio or reel demonstrating high-quality 3D character animation, cinematic storytelling and animation direction.
• Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Maya and professional 3D animation workflows, including body mechanics, posing, acting, facial performance, timing, spacing, weight and appeal.
• Understanding of modeling and rigging dependencies, asset requirements and technical needs for character performance, props, interactions and facial animation.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills; ability to work in the Barcelona hybrid office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Storyboarding, drawing, visual development, thumbnails, draw-overs or paint-overs.
• 2D animation, animatics or direct collaboration with Storyboard Artists during pre-production.
• Experience directing external vendors or producing game trailers, cinematics, UA ads and short-form marketing content.
• Mobile games, advertising, character-driven entertainment or AI-assisted animation workflows.
